Admission to the School

The process up to admission varies depending on your course (class period/visa type).

Long-term international student course (1–2 years): You must acquire a student visa.

There are four admission periods per year in January, April, July, and October.

You will receive residence permit of “student” (for a year or a year and three months) when you get a student visa* and arrive in Japan. By extending your period of stay, you can stay and study in Japan for a maximum of two years. An attendance rate of at least 80% is required to extend your period of stay.
If you have student status, you are essentially not allowed to work, but by applying for and receiving Permission to Engage in Activity Other than That Permitted under the Status of Residence Previously Granted, you can work a part-time job for up to 28 hours per week.

※You will need to receive a certificate of eligibility from the Japanese Bureau of Immigration in order to apply for a student visa. TCJ will apply for this certificate on your behalf.

You will need to have completed 12 years of education in your home country, or an equivalent to this, in order to qualify for admission. You will be required to undergo a TCJ-designated screening process.

If you wish to apply, you must prepare your application documents roughly half a year before the admission date.
