List of documents needed to apply for certificate of eligibility

Documents Relating to the Applicant

1.Application form
Standard form In student’s handwriting
2.Resume
Standard form In student’s handwriting
You must write your name as it appears on your passport.
You must write a clear and detailed explanation of why you want to study at TCJ.
3.Six photographs
Photographs must be 4 cm vertically by 3 cm horizontally, taken within the past three months, and have your name written on the back.
4.Original copy of your most recent graduation certificate
5.Original copy of your academic transcript
6.Certificate of student status
Or certificate of expected graduation if you expect to graduate before admission to TCJ
7.Certificate of employment
If you are currently working
8.Japanese proficiency certificates
(If any)
・Certificates or reports of results for Japanese tests such as the Japanese Language Proficiency Test
・Certificate from Japanese language school (including length of term and number of hours)
9.Copy of passport
・Displaying photograph page
・If you have entered Japan previously, please also attach pages with your Japanese immigration stamps

Documents for Person Responsible for Fees

For relatives living in your home country

1.Letter of Paying Expenses
Standard form In responsible person’s handwriting
* Use this form for application for April 2019 term or later.
2.Documents certifying relationship to applicant
Can be a birth certificate, notarized document, etc.
3.Certificate of bank balance
4.Documents certifying employment
If employed at a company: documents certifying position, number of years employed, etc.
If self-employed or managing a company: copy of business permit, etc.
5.Copy of bank passbook, etc.
Documents certifying source of bank balance funds
6.Certificate of income/tax paid
Documents stating yearly income
7.Copy of household register (China), family register, etc.
For the whole family

If your relatives live in Japan

※If Japanese relatives are responsible for payment, please visit the school.

  • Please submit documents issued within three months of the submission for all items. (An exception of up to six months will be granted for documents issued overseas.)
  • Please attach Japanese or English translations of documents not written in Japanese.
  • You may be asked to submit supplementary documents while your application is being considered or while the Immigration Bureau examination for your certificate of eligibility takes place.
  • Different documents will be required depending on your personal circumstances and country or territory. Please always consult with us in advance.
