Selected for Jasso Scholarship! I want to become a bridge between Japan and Vietnam one day!

  • Name : PHAN THI THANH THUY
  • Place of Birth : Vietnam

Congratulations on your selection in Jasso scholarship. Please tell me the reason why you decided to study at TCJ.

My teacher introduced me to TCJ while I was studying Japanese in Vietnam. I decided to apply to TCJ because it seemed like a great school after I did a research on my own.

What were you studying before you came to Japan?

I studied Russian for one year in Hanoi University Vietnam. However I wasn’t able to get into it as much. So I decided to quit my university in order to study in japan.

What made you decide to apply to this scholarship?

I need to work part time in order to pay the school expense for Musashino University. But at the same time, I need time for studying and reviewing as well, so I can’t spend too much time doing part time job. I though becoming a scholarship recipient would solve that problem.

How do you feel being chosen as the scholarship recipient?

I am very happy. I didn’t get selected the first time I applied to the scholarship. But I dint give up and got selected this time. No words of mine can express this feeling.

Did you find the TCJ class helpful?

TCJ helped me acquire a firm Japanese language skill, therefore helping me with my university entrance examination. Moreover, teachers provided me with detailed and precise information about scholarship system.

What is your goal from now on?

Thanks to my teachers, I was accepted into Musashino University. My first goal is to study and obtain a lot of knowledge. After graduating the college, I would like to become a Japanese language teacher and ultimately become a bridge between Vietnam and Japan.

Do you have any message for people who are going to apply to a scholarship?

When studying in japan as a foreign student, you may face difficulties not only when studying but also in terms of getting accustomed to Japanese culture. Receiving a scholarship can be very encouraging when facing such difficulties, therefore I recommend you to work hard on becoming a scholarship recipient.
You stand a good chance of getting chosen if you maintain above 95% attendance rate and study hard. Please do not be discouraged if you get rejected the first time. You will succeed if never give up.
